As part of my capstone course, The Branding of Me, taught by Gary Kayye💜 CTS, I’ve committed to promoting authenticity, celebrating growth, and embracing continuous self-improvement. Through my blogs, I’ve been reflecting on experiences that hold personal significance—whether they be memories, passions, or simple thoughts and opinions.

One passion that has been a constant throughout my life is fashion. Even in preschool, I would carefully curate my outfits the night before. For me, fashion is more than just clothing— it’s a powerful form of personal expression. I believe that when you look put together on the outside, it can help you feel confident and composed on the inside too.

This love for fashion inspired me to take action. In high school, I volunteered with Dress for Success Worldwide, an organization dedicated to providing professional attire to those in need for job interviews. Working with marginalized individuals in such a meaningful way taught me that outward appearances are just one small part of a person’s story. Ironically, fashion taught me an important leadership lesson: when in positions of influence, we must see beyond appearances to understand and appreciate the depth of others.

This semester, I started doing PR work for Note in the Pocket, a nonprofit that provides clothing to impoverished and homeless children. Though my time with them is just beginning, I’ve already seen the power of compassionate communication and the impact storytelling can have in advancing a mission. Being able to use my skills to amplify their message and help them reach more children in need is an incredible opportunity.

I look forward to continuing my work with Note in the Pocket, honing my media outreach skills, crafting messages that resonate with the community and donors, and leveraging digital platforms to spread awareness. As I dive deeper into this role, I’m eager to learn how my efforts behind the scenes can contribute to real change, ensuring more children have access to clothing that makes them feel valued and prepared for life’s opportunities.
